One mom's VBAC story
Mar 11, 2024Last year, a mom came to me looking for 1:1 prenatal yoga.
She had just found out she was pregnant, and she wanted to do whatever it would take to have a positive birth experience. (And specifically, she wanted to work together to prep for a VBAC.)
The thing is, she knew exactly what type of birth she didn’t want to have, because she had already lived it once.
Her first baby came via emergency c-section, and it all happened in a way that left her feeling overwhelmed and helpless.
This also played a huge role in her transition into postpartum, where everything felt so much more difficult than she had anticipated.
(Honestly, it didn’t just feel more difficult; it was more difficult as she struggled with postpartum depression that entire first year, largely due to the unexpected trauma of her first birth.)
Fast forward through those 9 months of us meeting weekly in my apartment, stretching, strengthening, moving, meditating, talking, processing…
She was READY.
And you know what happened?
.
.
.
She ended up having the most peaceful and empowering c-section with her second baby.
“But wait, Sarah, wasn’t she trying to have a VBAC?”
I mean, yeah, but that’s not actually the point.
And personally I consider her story one of THE best to prove the point that it’s not about the type of birth you have but rather how you experience it.
When it comes to preparing for birth, it’s about so much more than pushing techniques or responding to contractions.
It’s about mindset. It’s about presence.
Everything I did with this mom to help her prepare for a VBAC (and ultimately have a beautiful c-section experience) I’ve put together in one place for you. (Or you know, for your pregnant friend who you’re gonna send this blog post to so that she can have the positive birth experience you know she deserves!)
It’s all inside my 6-week Preparing for Birth program. Sign up today and ready your body and mind for the marathon of birth, no matter what type of birth you have.
