The Workout Every Postpartum Mom Needs

After you have a baby, which of these do you think matters most?

  • working your arms
  • strengthening your legs
  • firing up your core

I’ll argue that there’s a right answer to that question.

 

The thing is—no amount of toned arms or strong legs is gonna keep you from peeing your pants after baby.

 

Or make your back stop hurting.

 

Or make sex pain-free again.

 

It really is all about the CORE in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

(And yeah I threw birth in there too because if your pelvic floor—which is part of your core—isn’t working right, you’ll be pushing that baby out for HOURS.)

 

Learning to relax your pelvic floor will help with a heap of problems (for one thing, a relaxed pelvic floor is not gonna let a baby out for a vaginal birth).

Learning to engage your transverse abdominals will help with another heap of problems as you teach your core to function optimally after kinda being displaced through pregnancy.
