Leaking pee when we sneeze
Mar 18, 2024Did you know that 1 in 3 moms leak pee after having a baby?
Maybe you don’t need me to tell you that. Maybe you’re one of them.
Let me just say...
IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY.
Most of the time, if you’re leaking pee, it means your pelvic floor is too tight. So cool it with the kegels, okay?
A too-tight pelvic floor can make you leak pee, it can make sex painful, and it can be associated with a plethora of other issues like “mom pooch,” low back pain, and constipation.
You can check out my Mama Core workshop to go deep into this topic, but here are the very basics:
Inhale, relax the pelvic floor.
Exhale, contract the pelvic floor.
Inhale, relax.
Exhale, contract.
Kegels are a good starting point, but they're only HALF of the equation (and honestly we usually get a little overzealous with kegels anyway and just squeeze really tight and really hard a million times--but that's not how you strengthen a muscle!!!). Really focus on that "inhale, release" and you'll set yourself up for Pelvic Floor Success! (Yay! Gold star, you!)
I believe a woman’s body does not have to be “broken” just because she’s gone through pregnancy and childbirth. And I hope you believe that, too.
